I wanted to redesign a Disney parks guide map as an exercise in learning about how their maps work and familiarize myself with all the details that make up a guide map. I chose Disney's Magic Kingdom to redesign. Magic kingdom has the biggest map with the most locations, attractions and items than any other park, so this was a challenge. I pulled apart the original classic Gothic magic kingdom map and branding and put it back together in my own style. Playing with gradients, chrome and fantasy details I wanted to push how far design can interfere with map readability. I am going to try again with other locations and push even further but I was satisfied with this first attempt.
Below is some working edits being marked.
